Hey Ryan, thanks for the offer, I can always use the assistance of a vet tech. I have a health care protocol based on the work of Dr. Richard Ross, great work. I classify bacterial diseases into different classes and treat them accordingly, with non-aminoglycoside and aminoglycoside drugs. I do not do surgery(not qualified), but find that a good antibiotic protocol works 95% of the time(if you can catch the problem fast enough). I keep exact notes on all my medications and doses, very important for future reseach and knowledge. I have my own method of diluting drugs, but would like to know what you're method is for diluting liquid and powder forms of amino. and non-aminoglycoside drugs. Plus, what doses do you use for chloramphenicol, gentamicin, amikacin, trimethoprim, etc. I think you should describe how to properly dilute different medications for forum members(Flagyl, Panacur, Droncit). I could do it, but this is you're forte and I don't want to step on you're toes. I have a million more questions, I'll DILUTE them through time. Thanks Ryan, Tim

Dont sweat the steppin on my toes stuff. If youve done the research, youre probably just as qualified as I am. As far as the dilutions go, I would have to check my notes, PDRs etc. which are all at work, but I will ad that having the luxury of working at a clinic, must of our emulsions, solutions, etc. are already diluted as stock. We get liquid Panacur, Flagyl etc. instead of having to make solutions from tablets and powders.
I will get my exact dosages for you once I check my notes (Ive got most of the dosages we use off the top of my head, but some may be different than what most texts clinically reccomend - so I would rather get the exacts if I am to post for the benefit of the entire forum)
Incidentally, if dont have it allready, Mader's Reptile Medicine and Surgury book is a must. Its got EVERYTHING in it. Almost every dosage of every drug we use in herp medicine. Great pics, great everything. This book is a godsend.
Good chatting with you Tim. Nice to see fellow herpers really do their research.=)

Ryan what do use for liquid Flagyl? I get the stuff from Mexico whenever I can but have also had compounds made up at pharmacy. I find compounds hard to use as they need to be refrigerated and this causes all flagyl to glop up in the bottom. I end up shaking the stuff for 15-20 minutes!

We buy it as a stock solution. If you would like, I could find out what company we get it from, but they only sell to Vet clinics, as metronidazole is a perscription drug.

I have no difficulty in getting prescription drugs as I have worked for several animal hospitals as well as through other people I have worked with in the animal and human medical fields. If you can find out who you get it through that would be great.

Need more info. You should really have the animals seen by a vet where propper diagnostics can be performed.
