So I recently got my first WA gaboon viper. I love how they strike and hold their prey off the ground. I was kind of disappointed when my gaboon refused to tong feed for a few weeks. She would eat frozen thawed if I left them in her cage but would never strike and hold like I expect her to do. She does strike and hold live prey but sometimes she strikes live prey then let's it go then goes and tracks it down to eat it after its good and dead. She has taken ft off tongs for me a couple of times now but is still not giving me the bang I expect. The only thing I can think to do is if she won't strike off tongs don't leave it in with her and eventually she will get hungry enough to snatch the dead rat off the tongs. Anyone ever experience similar feeding behavior as described here? I got her for that gaboon viper feeding response but I'm feeling like I got cheated! I want her to explode and destroy food like they usually do!
