Hi, Phillip and I are going to South Florida(around miami) Tommorow and Mondays weather is supposed to be in the late 60s and early 70s in the daytime. We want to go to Highland Hammock state park. Would snakes and alligators be out? Also what are some other places to look? Thank you.

I caught an Eastern Diamondback a week ago in north Florida and it was not quite 60 degrees at the time. He was out basking. Great looking snake at about 4 feet. You should be able to find em' if you look in the right places.

You can get a lot of cool introduce species on Key Biscayne. Basilisks, Ameivas, and such.
Good luck,
Robert

I spent a couple days with a fellow herpetologist in Miami this summer. We spent about an hour walking around and talking and found tons of introduced species there without really looking.
Here's what we saw in about an hour without really trying.
Ameiva ameiva
Black Spiny-tailed Iguana – Ctenosaura similis
Green Iguana – Iguana iguana
Brown Anole – Anolis sagrei
Bark Anole - Anolis cristatellus
Crested Anole - Anolis distichus
Brown Basilisk – Basiliscus vittata
and maybe a few other things.
I highly recommend spending a little time there since you will be close by anyway.
Again good luck,
Robert

I just caught something sort of humorous in the original post - you siad it was going to be in the late 60's and early 70's in reference to the temp. Chuckle chuckle.....
