I HAVE A PAIR OF W. DIAMONDBACKS THEY WERE BEING HOUSED TOGATHER BECAUSE OF RENOVATIONS. WHEN I WAS TAKING THE FEMALE OUT TO PUT HER IN A NEW ENCLOSURE THE MALE STRUCK AND BIT HER. I THINK HE WAS TRYING FOR ME AND SHE WAS JUST IN THE WAY. I WAS WANDERING IF IT WOULD KILL HER OR IF SINCE THEY PRODUCE THE VENOM ANYWAY DOES SHE HAVE AN IMMUNITY TO IT. ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.(ON ANY RATTLESNAKE)NEVER CAN KNOW TOO MUCH.
THANKS,
DARRELL

Your atrox should be just fine. They are immune to the venom however it will generally swell around the bite for a few days. The only occurances of death after other rattlers biting one of the same specie, is when one may get a head bite and they swell up and sufficate or if they punctur a vidal organ.

On occasions atrox have been known to kill another atrox by accident, but usually they will live fron not only there own bites but others. During denning it is pretty common for atrox to be aggresive and strike at almost any thing, this includes each other. Unless the bite punctures a vital organ she should be fine. You may see some swelling and even tissue loss, but all in all she should recover from the bite.
