Welcome to the fourm. Some people to get good advice from is Jim Harrison, Terry Phillips, BGF, and many others. Every member on here has experience with different herps. It basically all depends on what your looking for.

There are guys on here that are just dying to be experts, so they post all the time. They preach at people and act as though they should be the only ones keeping reptiles. If you look close you will see them. Cross reference everything that people tell you. If its accurate information, you shouldn’t have trouble checking it out with a simple internet search. There are some big names that use this site, but none are infallible. BGF probably knows more about venom properties then anyone alive, but he tries to prove the ridiculous theory of evolution. Harrison is one of the top three venom producers in the country, but he gave me bad information on the laws concerning venom production. I am saying they are wise people and a good reference, but you should always check your facts.

And some people let little kids play with King Cobras while under their supervision. So be careful who you listen too. Just because they say they are responsible venomous keeprs (and adults) doesn't mean they realy are...

And some people can’t even spell responsible venomous keeper correctly, so therefore I doubt they truly know what it is. But, regardless of that, Anonymous is right. There may be some people here that would let children play with a king cobra under their supervision and that is bad. But I must take it a step further and warn you, that some people have such simple minds they would confuse teenagers taking pictures with a venomoid king cobra as the same thing. Even though you do not own the snake, the shop, or have any authority over the teenagers, some are so stupid, they will think you are responsible for that. Now, I know you are saying to yourself, “hold on chuck, no one can really be that stupid.” And I would like to say, you are right…no one can really be that stupid, but the sad reality is, there are some people who have such weak reasoning ability, they will tend to believe you have total control over every situation, just because you happen to be there. I certainly hope this mindset does not take over our legal system. If someone where to rob a bank that I was in at the time, I could end up in jail. =)

ahhh...stupidity! I wonder what the parents would have had to say if you accidentally left their child there. You know, forgot to load him in the van...I bet they would hold you RESPONSIBLE! Just like they would if they were bitten by a HOPEFULLY venomoid king cobra and lay in the hospital with a tremendous infection... I would be really interested in hearing from our two teenage superstar herpetologist's parents. Do they even know what their children did on that trip? or what they do with their spare time?
Someone asked anonymous "whats your deal' Well, honestly, it is idiots that think they know everything there is to know about everything and defend it ruthlessly. These people along with literally 70-80% of the people that post on these forums should not own let alone give advice on venomous reptiles! What happened to wisdom, experience, knowledge and ethics? It went down the toilet with rest of the crap!
I am anonymous, hear me roar! cuz I am not going anywhere! I will answer with brutal honesty. Those that can't take it....tough!

6 people went on that trip. 2 were under 18, and I spoke at length with both there mothers before we left. I explained that I am not going to be “in charge” or “responsible” for them, and they were fine with that. Of course they know what they did; it was what they went to do. Both of their mothers strongly encourage their son’s interest in venomous herpetology. And I can assure you, if either mother was there; they would have allowed it and even took the pictures. Both of their mothers have character. If there had been an accident, they would have said nothing. They know what their sons do and accept the inherent dangers of that. I posed this question to AL and he refused to answer, so I will give you the floor. Here are the facts, and in light of the facts, how do you draw the conclusion I was responsible for them taking pictures with that cobra:
1. It was not my snake
2. It was not my store
3. I was not in authority over anyone evolved with the pictures.
4. I did not get the cobra out.
5. I did not pass the cobra around.
6. The cobra was taken out of the cage by a store employee.
7. It was passed to Jeremy by another guy on the trip (who was 26 years old)
8. It was passed to Philip by Jeremy.
Ok, the facts show that I was not in authority over those guys, that store, or that snake. There is not a binding argument that will show I was responsible for that situation. Now, point of fact, I did have a cobra on that trip. Point of fact, I was in charge of that snake. Point of fact, no one other then me had there hands on that snake till I delivered it to the buyer. There are the facts Anonymous, now lets see how well you can spin them. You know the reason I don’t like you, or most other Anonymous posters, is you bring nothing to the table. You do not want to add anything, you only want to breakdown. I agree that some people pass out bad information, hey that is fine. That is the very reason it should be posted in a public forum for peer review rather then private email. What happened to wisdom, experience, knowledge and ethics? What about character? Character would require you to put your name to what you say. If you have no character, I can only assume you have no wisdom, knowledge, or ethics either. Almost every day I get an email or emails from someone thanking me for information or answers. You will never get that, cause you have no interest in helping, your only interest is in causing problems.

I draw my conclusion this way...
Because YOU are NOT a MINOR. THEY ARE.
You, a "responsible keeper" that would like to continue keeping hots, has a responsibility to be responsible.
Which you weren't

Your logic is sub moronic! Because I am not a minor I am responsible for this? If none of the people involved or the snake was under my authority, what in the hell was I suppose to do? Quickly make some signs and start a picket line?
