Cool, I saw two beautiful water snakes today. You know spring has officially started when you smell the nauseating musk of a water snake. In the past few weeks Ive found 1 copperhead and two getulas. Im going to one of my favorite spots in the morning and seeing if I can pull out any common snappers.

I found a small snapper down here in Texas last weekend. I'm just about to head off to Arkansas to see what I can manage to come across there. I'll let you guys know what I find when I get back.

Spring has just arrived here. I`ll be heading for Greece next week and maybe I`ll have more luck 1000km south from here. :)
Glad to hear you guys are busy. Cheers.

Could you help me out with something? Yesterday I stumbled across a snake that was fairly large, well, it was more fat than anything. It was a bright shade of orange and was mostly solid with some varying shades of orange and yellow. It was about two feet from the edge of a pond. Could you tell me what this most likely is? I saw it on my college campus and if it is threat(it was in an area with a lot of people traffic) I would like to let someone know so they can remove it. If it isn't venomous, I want it left alone. Thank you!!

Hi Collegedude. It sounds like some sort of harmless water snake(Nerodia) They will usually flee when approached and if it is a harmless water snake it would be no danger at all. What state do you live in, what part of the state do you live? If the pond is natural and has good habitat, removing the snake would be usless. Just tell your friends and others to watch their step. Usually a snake will flee when approached and if you watch your step and stick to the trails, you and those around you should have no problems. Write back and tell us what state and what part of the state you live in because you could be in Cottonmouth territory.

I live in north Georgia and I was afraid that it could be some sort of copperhead or other venomous snake. I was wishing for the best. My roommate has a python and I am becoming more familiar with varying types of reptiles, but neither myself or my roommate know enough about snakes at this point to tell what kind of snake our orange friend might be. Thanks for all of your help!
