I just bought the The Venomous Reptiles of the Western Hemisphere book and I would like your opinon on this book, also I am thinking about getting an eyelash pit viper the colors are amasing and any info would greatly helpful also the yellow phase do they keep that color or do they lose it as they mature.

I have almost 90 herpetology books and have looked through way more than that. I have skimmed through most of the old books and keep up with the new releases and "The Venomous Reptiles of the Western Hemisphere" is by far my favorite book in my little library. I highly recommend it! It is the best. $150 might seem a little high until you buy it. Then you realize it was money well spent.

One of the better books in my collection. And yes, they will keep the yellow color although it does tend to get a little less vibrant, but still yellow indeed.

I got a quetion about the book the company that i got it from sent me only vol 1 I thought that it was a 2 book set?

Well, if it's the new "revised" edition then it's a two volume set. It will clearly say Volume one and Volume two one each.

Hey Shane,
You got ripped off if they only sent you one volume. It is $150 for a two volume set and the 2nd volume is at least as good as the first. It has all the rattlesnakes, snake bite chapter (with graphic photos), systematics/evolution chapter, etc... I actually like volume 2 better but it is pretty close.
I'd write to somebody to get your 2nd volume.

I got it at overstock.com and I called them and the lady told me that she would send the warehouse a email about sending me the 2nd vol or just letting me refund but the only thing is and why I was wondering is that she could not find out for sure that it was a 2 vol set and another thing is that I have to wait 2-4 buisness days just before I finding out any thing but I hope that it was just a simple mistake and they send me my other book and if they had of got it right I would say that there shippin is fast very fast I like that but I was a little worried when the box only contained 1 book but mabey this will all pan out.
