Bertie: A bite from a copperhead should be considered a medical emergency, and you should go to a medical facility for observation and treatment. The medical personell might use antivenom, but they might not, depending on the severity of the bite. JohnZ

If antivenin is requiered for a severe copperhead bite, they would use Protherics CROFAB or possibly Wyethe Crotalidae Polyvalent Antivenin. JohnZ

To further what John said: Two domestic Antivenoms are available, CroFab & Wyeth Crotalid. Currently there're some question how effective the CroFab is on Copperhead bites. Wyeth is very effective and cheaper but is whole horse serum derived, whereas, the CroFab is derived from Sheep and just the active fragments of the IGg molecule is used. CroFab costs $1650 per vial and up, Wyeth is just a few hundred $ per vial. Typical bites that require a MINIMUM amount of antivenom will cost the victim $20,000 to $30,000
The other issue is whether or not you will need Antivenom at all in the first place. There are many risks using antivenom, the main one being an allergic reaction to the base serum and then again when you Kidneys try to get rid of all of this horse protein.
Personally I would go to the hospital but not let them give antiserum till I was convinced there were severe systemic symptoms present. Furthermore, they like to do Faciotomies to relieve the pressure inside your limb that is bitten. This practice has been under suspicion of causing more problems than if fixes.
If they want to do this proceedure, RUN!! You will never be the same!
