I have been working with herps for most of my 29 years. I have experience with several different venomous snakes. I have been trying to get information on starting a venom extraction lab, but have been unsuccessful. I would like to be able to work with the snakes that I love and be able to eventually make enough money to break even. Any information that could be provided to me would be greatly appreciated.

These days you will need a bachelors degree in biochemistry, and a masters in toxinology to qualify as a candidate to run a venom lab. There are few exceptions. Currently there are 3 labs that I know of supplying all of the venom needed for scientific study and antivenin production. But I have even been told by one individual that venom demand is slowing.
Labs that buy the venom and venom components have stringent production parameters that you would have to follow as well which means you would need to training to run freeze drying equipment and the money to purchase it. I know of one individual trying to break into this field that is way ahead of others in this area.
Your best bet is to work in one of these 3 venom production facilities or work in a serpentarium. Either way, you'll need at least a bachelors degree in herpetology, wildlife biology or something similar to do so.

I'm a current seller of snake venom. Do you have any idea where can I find information about organizations or individuals that buy snake venom for pharmaceutical use?
