So the rattlesnake took off and you couldn't get a good look at it? I see. Hmm. And everyone here knows how fast those rattlesnakes are. Like greased lightning! Probably went down a snake hole or something.

trust me son you have no idea what you are talking about. Were you the one bitten in the face? Tell me, how many snake bites have you seen on the face? I bet not even one. It's a rare bite. I could care less about getting attenion for what happened. What I was asking for was a non skeptical opinion for treatment of an injury.

I help train Marines and other DOD personnel before they are deployed to Iraq & Afghanistan. I was hiding in a long box like structure in the prone position when I was bitten. When the Marines &Corpsman checked me out there was venom pouring out of two distinct bite marks under my eye. They knew what it was and I redeived a medivac.

I guess machine gun fire and squads of U.S marines can't scare snakes away. If you don't know what you are talking about why make a silly comment? They didn't catch the snake big deal, the last thing I was worried about was capturing the snake. My eye was swollen shut at the time. The photo you are viewing came from the following day. Most of the venom poured out of my face right after the bite and from what the doc said the fangs must have hit bone and a full injection was not possible. you can see the injection site if you look for the 2 black dots directly under the eye. They are not that difficult to find.

You help train Marines? The picture was taken the day after the bite? Do the Marines always let you have facial hair or does it just grow that fast overnight?
I'm just wondering.

I have to say that after viewing the photo and zooming it, I too have to say I'm a bit skeptical. I see no bite marks, only a lateral laceration, a few vertical scratches, and hematoma that is not like that of a rattlesnake bite. You would think that there would be much more swelling and even a blood blister or bleb. I even notice that there seems to be a spot of blood at the left side of the mouth that looks like it is being covered by hiding his lips. I could be way off, but it looks more like a fist fight to me.

Actually, I have been bitten by a rattlesnake my little friend. Not in the face mind you, but envenomated enough to know what symptoms match up with what tissue damage, so either you're exaggerating the symptoms or the snake scared the hell out of you and you whacked yourself getting out of the box.
You seem a little young to be training marines to me. But hey, I'll go along with it. As far as bites go, I have seen my share of rattlesnake bites, including some to the eye. Dr. Keyler has some great photos of bites to the eye that would make a grown man cry just looking at them over a beer.
I'm not totally discounting your story, just saying maybe you need to get the facts a little more realistically in tune first.

I must say, I believe someone "dotted" your eye pretty good. That is no snake bite. I am a former Marine myself. I doubt you train Marines, plus your facial hair, and your thug hat. Your appearance says nothing about you being a Marine. Looks like a nice shinner from your skateboard or fight. But that is NO snake bite. Bryan
