My EDB has been eating very well lately.He has eaten four medium size rats .Every two - three weeks apart for some time. It's been three weeks ago since he ate. Now I just tryed to feed him and he wouldn't eat for me. Will he be alright and start eating again. Andy

It will be fine, I have several and they are wierd eaters, like all snakes they will eat great for months and then not eat for weeks on end.

My question to you is , how the heck do I get this freakin tick out of my 5footers pit?

If you're feeding him 4 medium sized rats every 2 to 3 weeks I think your feeding him too much...not sure, but it sounds that way! You should take a stool sample to the vet to get it checked for parasites and treat as necessary. Steve

That may be an abcessed loreal pit you are looking at. It looks exactly like a tick protruding from the pit. Tube that snake and look closed to see if it's actually a tick. (MIdwest at Tongs.com now has tubes that will hold a 5 foot EDB). Drill a hole in the tube, and you will have access to the pit without the snake having access to you. [This is a 2 person job.] ~CH

No , He was eating med. rats. One rat every two or three weeks apart. My EDB is 3' long and is big around as an shouvel handle. Sorry if anyone got confused. I closely watch and monitor my snake .I worry alot about him . I had him for an year so far.He was only 14 inches long and had two buttons then ,but now he's 3' and has five buttons . Andy
