I was wondering which is better the Gentle Giant tong or the Standard Tong? I need to know if I need to invest in a Gentle Giant or keep my Standard. Please explain for me which is better and why.

It would help a lot Brad, if we knew what you wanted to use the tongs for. For instance, do you need Gentle Giants to handle Pigmy Rattlesnakes and young Canebrake Rattlesnakes like Karl keeps? No. Are they necessary when dealing with the huge Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake that Chris keeps? Not really. Tongs really come into the great points of their usefullness when dealing with elapids such as those kept by MsTT and Allen Hunter or field collecting Cottonmouths like Chad and Mardi do. They can be usefull in many situations involving the movement/transfer of large, agile snakes but in most cases dealing with American crotalids in a captive situation, a hook or sometimes even two is more than adequate. The best point of Gentle Giants over any other tong available is that even if you get excited and really squeeze down on the trigger, the possibility of you damaging the snake is reduced. I say reduced because nothing is actually impossible. Standard tongs from any of the standard tong sources will allow you to "accidentally" cut a snake in two or otherwise damage its spine/organs by applying too much pressure to the trigger in a moment of adrenaline/fear response/eagerness/whatever. I hope this bit of information proves usefull to you...
