Well I found a recently dead snake with its eggs laying right beside it. It was on a road that many snakes die on everyday. I managed to take an egg that was untouched home. Is it possible to incubate eggs after they have prematurily come out of a dead snake? It appeared she probably would have layed them soon anyway. The snake was so torn up and I was in a hurry, but I think it was Elaphe Obsoleta O. I'd like to think I can do something, but it seems very unlikely. Haven't tried it before. Thanks

Removing eggs from road-killed turtles works most of the times - I saved many turtle eggs like this - but for some resason it doesn't with snakes.
Talking with a vet once about it , he also mentioned that surgically removing eggs from an egg bound snake and incubating them never seems to works either.
In the field I once found an eastern hognosed that died as it was laying eggs. As fresh as it was, I know it didn't die long before I came across it. The eggs that were laid I took home and incubated successfully. The remaining ones I removed from the snake didn't make it.
What kind of snake was it you found ? Good luck with the egg ... I hope you prove me wrong! :>)
