I AM CURRENTLY LIVING IN BANGKOK AND I AM INTERESTED IN KEEPING MY FIRST HOT SNAKE AFTER EIGHTEEN YEARS ON AND OFF OF NON VENOMOUS SPECIES. THE GREEN TREE VIPER, RUSSELLS VIPER AND MALAYSIAN PIT VIPERS ARE EASILY AVAILABLE.I AM NOT RUSHING INTO THIS BUT GETTING AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE FIRST. AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYBODY HAS HAD MUCH EXPERIENCE WITH THESE SNAKES AND WHAT THEY WOULD RECOMMEND FOR TEMPERMENT AND HOW THEY ADAPT TO CAPTIVITY.

well there not too bad a bit nippy and in no expert but the venom of these little buggers will kill you! or you vary well my lose your hand...

In my opinion, the Russell's Viper should not be considered as a "first hot" by anyone due to the incredibly virulent action of their venom. If you make an error with a Russell's, you might not survive to make it to the hospital which may or may not be able to successfully treat you. I can't honestly say that I know enough about the other two to recommend one of them over the other. Good luck with your choice.

THANKS FOR GIVING A REALISTIC OPINION RATHER THAN A GLORIFIED ONE. I KNOW ALL THESE SNAKES ARE DANGEROUS AND I RESPECT THEM AS SO . IT;S CRAZY HERE IN BANGKOK YOU SHOULD SEE WHAT THEY OFFER ALONG WITH 501 JEANS! YOU CAN PURCHASE A COBRA FOR 400BAHT (9- 10 DOLLARS! )AT THE LOCAL MARKET. THE ONLY INTEREST IS MONEY, SO MOST OF THEM IF NOT CAUGHT RECENTLY LOOK PRETTY SICK. MAKES YOU REALISE HOW MANY DIE BEFORE YOU GET THEM! I ONLY WANT A NATIVE SPECIES, SO I CAN RELEASE BEFORE I HEAD BACK TO THE U.K. AND I CERTAINLY AGREE THAT THERE SHOULD BE SOME CONTROL OVER THIS.
