Oops. I accidently deleted both of your posts about whether or not cottonmouths will climb into a paddleboat. By the way, I forwarded your email to a professional herpetologist, and he should have an answer for you by Friday. Actually though, as a person who spends A LOT of time on the water, I can tell you that you are over reacting just a tad. Have your family reunion and don't worry about the snakes. I will email something to you tonight as well.

Having a cottonmouth drop into a boat from an overhanging branch is probably more likely than having one enter the boat from the water. The boat would have to have very little freeboard. If cottonmouths are the biggest worry for what ought to be a pleasant trip, I'd say go & enjoy. My site has what may be some material of interest on cottonmouths. It's on the links page or:
