Hi ya’ll, I don’t know if any of you actually payed any attention the Post written by Stefan about starting a Venomous Enthusiasts Group here in Alabama. We all know that this States Government has done nothing but run our ability to keep Non-Native Venomous into the ground, and we all know they didn’t even bother giving us a chance to Fight it. I think that Stefan has one of the best ideas I have heard in a long time. If we could organize ourselves, and lobby Montgomery to bring this Law back up for review, we could possibly get it Overturned. I wish you the best of luck. I knew someone that was working for the state when the law was being drafted. They originally wanted to make ALL venomous illegal, but that would mean the round up in Opp would be illegal. Someone caught wind of that and pushed for the native only rule so the roundup could continue. A few years ago I tried to get info about keeping non-native subspecies (ie Trans-Pecos Copperhead) and was specifically told "If it don't live here, you can't keep it".
Antivenin will be an issue too, only 1 zoo in Alabama has venomous. I also found out the hospitals in Montgomery have only 5 vials of Wyeth on hand.
