i'm gonna be in pembroke pines, FL (between ft. lauderdale and miami) for a week and i'd like to take a day and go herping in the glades.....only able to walk so, anywhere i can access on foot is great.....i know nothing about the glades and their accesibility and the legality of it all.....will i get in trouble for going anywhere with a snake hook? not really planning to catch and keep anything, just "check them out" i guess......anyone have any advice?

You can only collect snakes that are non-native snake in the everglades. You can not bring a hook in the refuge. There are many roads off the everglades parkway where you can road cruise.
Good Luck,
Phillip

but is the whole everglades a nat'l park or what? i don't really like nat'l parks because they're not really nature, they're parks......i have parks here.....i'd like to go swamp-stomping out where people don't like to go.....far enough away from humans that if i get bitten, i may die......paved paths really don't intrigue me that much
any places like that? just the real everglades outside of a park?
