Thanks guys. Paul, i have to agree, i bet the sound of all those rattles going off sounds fantastic! I love rattlesnakes so how anyone would feel nervous walking into your hot room and hearing that i'll never understand. It would fill me with awe!! I'm sure your safe and responsible with your hobby as most of us are. Thanks for the info Alex and Paul, regards, Mark.

What is kind of funny is that after you work for several years in a reptile building where you come into a room to the sound of 40 or 50 rattlesnakes rattling every morning, you hardly hear it anymore.
It sort of gets tuned down, so that the sound new visitors to the room find almost defening, is like an distant insect buzz to the person who works with the rattlesnakes every day.
Your hearing just kind of adapts and ignores it, that way you can carry on conversations with other zoo keepers while all the rattlesnake noise is going on.
So enjoy that loud, amazing, primal sound while you can, because if you work with rattlesnakes long enough, you might find you have blocked the sound out and can almost no longer hear it.
At least that is what has happened to me and several other rattlesnake keepers that I know.
Best Regards JohnZ
