I have been speaking with some of the big cat people here in NC. Some of them really seem to know what they are doing, but they certainly are not organized... and some seem to have differences and rivalries. They are truely the main target in NC because of a couple of high profile incidents in the last few years. These incidents have been exploited by API and HSUS to usher in the Animal Rights agenda.
If there are some responsible organizations around I would really like to speak with them. The time is now... please contact me if you can put me in touch with the type of people that can make a positive contribution to this debate. The time to hesitate is through. Act now or lose it forever. I represent the only animal interest group on the study committee. The rest are all Animal Rights activists and state agencies. Call me or email me.

Andrew,
Have you seen the web site of the Feline Conservation Federation ?
http://www.thefcf.com/press/kstigerattack.asp?key=248
They seem to have a very organized group who would seem to be concerned with helping support keepers of big cats throughout the US.
Best Regards JohnZ
