Paul, that sounds fun! I wish I could say the same, but Georgia has been playing tricks here lately. We are just coming out of a couple of days in the 70's! In late December!!! Anyway, have fun hunting kings, and try to snag a Drymarchon while your at it.
best of luck and a merry x-mas,
Bryan Hudson

Paul, about 4 days ago it hit 65 degrees here, and I saw a fresh road killed Black Rat Snake in the early afternoon. I tried flipping the tin I have scattered about my property, hoping to find Coral Snake food, but did not find anything under the tin but Black Widow Spideys.

Paul,
Temps have been mostly mild here lately.
I have managed a whole 45 minutes in the field for the month of December in two trips.
The first trip (December 17) we found these two anoles getting it on and near them was a Ground Skink that was too skittish to photograph.

The second trip (December 18) was really just a quick walk through some local habitat and turned up this brute. It was 77F and very pleasant. The smell of Cottonmouth musk in the air was a wonderful welcome back to the southeast Georgia woodlands.

Good luck to all.
Merry Christmas
and Happy Holidays

I have found some. The Weather here has been in the Mid 60's to Low 70's for about 7 Days and I have found 1 Black Kingsnake, 2 Garter Snakes, 1 Juvenile Cottonmouth, and 1 Large Black Racer (Over 7Ft). It has been strange, being able to do some good Herping during Mid December in North AL.
Nothing like the Southern Lands to Liven you up Huu Karl? Welcome back to the Good Old South.
Be Safe Ya’ll, Happy Herping : Wally

If you guys get pics of the snakes you catch i would love to see pics. Come spring im out and about every day in the woods, lifting old stuff and wood up. I caught 3 five legged frogs in the pond by my house last year. that weird. If i catch any this year ill post pics. I called the DNR to see if they could test the water but no respones. Have fun be safe, and merry chrismahanaquanza.

Hey I have some good news to tell you, I took my kids to Lake Okeechobee snake hunting yesterday and we caught a couple nice snakes. The first one was a adult female corn under some plywood, then a ringneck there also. Driving down to Moorehaven we then caught a 4.5 foot female king crossing the road in the canefields. She is NICE, lots of speckles, and looks like a brooksi morph. Flipping some sheets of tin we then found a Everglades racer juvenile. After doing some fishing in the canals, we headed back home and stopped at another spot with some plywood, and found another ringneck and a 3 1/2 foot Indigo! The indigo escaped before I could take a pic, but it was a Indigo. :)
We also managed to grab three adult geckos that are new to me and do not know what kind they are. They have pattern like a fence lizard. Wierd. Not Meds, or Indo pacific though.
The kids loved it and slept the whole way home, I wore them out walking :)
I'm going back on New Years, no better way to start the year out.
Paul
