I have a question. Saturday, while I was cleaning my cages, I had a shocking turn of events happen. I was cleaning my jungle burm cage, which for those un familar with that snake, it is the product of a Borneo Bateater crossed back with a Burmese. I put the snake in with my Sri Lanken male. When I went back to get the jungle, I noticed they were locked up! So, the question is, if I get lucky enough to produce babies out of this,...any idea what they'll look like? I've crossed my sri lanken to a female burm before. The babies look like mom from the top, and dad on the side with much brighter colors than either of the parents. Anybody have any ideas???
Thanks!

Mark, this might be one of those "wait and see things," unless someone else has actually produced young the same way.
It is difficult to know what colors / patterns are dominate. You might wind up with brilliant colors and patterns, or you could wind up with the most ugly python in the world, LOL !
If they do produce young, post a link to the photos so we can see what they turned out like.
Best Regards JohnZ

I am thinking that the Bat Eaters are steril and will not produce any young. I dont know if this is allowed, but a great website for python knowledge and alot of other info is WWW.bobclark.com/bcforums
I have been a member there for a while, and I remember reading that they are steril and will not produce viable young. I wish you all the luck in the world because that would be a beautiful snake!!!

Actually, that's what I originally thought until I got this Jungle burm. I wasn't quite sure what I was looking at at first. The people I got it from said it was a borneo bateater. I knew that it wasn't, but at the same time, I knew it wasn't anything I had seen before. I mean, one of the coolest things about it is it's head. The head looks pretty much like a burm head, just lighter in color. But one big difference with it compared to a burm,....it has yellow outlining it's mouth. It looks like it has bright yellow lipstick on. LOL. I actually did email bob clark about it. He confirmed that yes, you can get bateaters to breed, it's just VERY difficult. I posted pics of it on the net and recieved an email from a gentleman in NY who actually has several of these snakes. Most people think that bateaters are steril, they're not. They're just really stubborn. LOL
