My albino monocleds are currently breeding. However, during this time of the breeding session, I would like to have their humdity higher. I learned most of the breeding info I know from this site, and from Brad McCarthy.
He told me to use Cypress mulch to help up the humidity. Currently I am using paper. Can I switch to the Cypress mulch without anyone getting upset, or throwing them off of breeding? I'd rather just keep it as it is, and not ruin what is currently happening, versus switching substrate, getting them wet, and having nothing happen.
Any input appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

Personally, I would stick with paper as a substrate and include a humidity box which can be a plastic storage box with a hole cut in the lid (twice the diameter of the snake); fill the storage box with either shredded paper heavily misted, or, you can use a peat/top soil/leaf mulch mix that works great for gravid/egg laying females. this box can be misted as necessary but it will hold humidity very well). I just get real nervous with mulch due to the possibility of ingestion. Newspaper is actually quite mold resistent and you can mist it down w/out having to worry about it getting too yucky.
