As far as watering goes.
I use a small water dish on the cool side of the cage and fill it about half way. I then let the water evaporate out of it. I refill the dish in about 7 to 10 days. In 3 yrs, I have only seen my winder drink once.

Mike, on the Cholla Cactus Skeletins, they are great in many desert snake displays. Sometimes you can find them for sale at reptile shows, sometimes at pet shops, and on EBay.
If you get them on EBay, they will probably still have some spines left and dirt / dried up cactus flesh inside. They can be cleaned for use with a high pressure water hose and allowed to dry.
Anytime I am herping in SW Texas or New Mexico or Arizona, I try to pick up a box of them along the road-side.
You might want to place an ad here at the site that you are looking for them, and perhaps one of our Texas friends will want to earn a little money by collecting and shipping some to you.
Best Regards JohnZ

wow thanks everyone for your help
i hear you on the force feeding my mentor has 2 baby sidewinders and he just got them both i think to eat on there own. im not planning on getting one that needs to be force fed... and if i do ill see if i can leave it with my mentor till its eating all on its own.
i like the idea of justs filling the water bowl 1/2 and leting it evaporate
is there any kind of live dessert plant that i can put into the enclusure? i havent heard of any but you guys are the experts
ill save some money up and then make a post. how much does it go for?
thanks again
Mike
