This may seem like a stupid question, but Im interested; What's the average time a snake sleeps a day? Does anybody know? Is there any way to find out?

I am sure somewhere somebody has an answer, but there would be such a large number of variables I am not sure how reliable any number would be. It would vary depending upon weather, species, time or date of last meal, age, and some others that I am overlooking.

a good way to find out is to simply watch, I was almost sure that my savannah monitor was dead because it hadn't moved in two days but it was just sleeping, he usually sleeps longer before a shed and for about 12 hours after a meal, and 10 hours on a regular day. This variation is most likely the same with snakes.

Im just curious about different species' sleep patterns. For example, it seems to me that rattlesnakes sleep more than other snakes because alot of the time they wont even rattle even when they are out in the open and a person is in close proximity to the snake, and alot of the rattlesnakes that I find seem to be sleeping.
