Rattler: Behind the Fangs” is the documentary about academic research involving venomous western diamondbacks and other rattlesnakes across the country.
Premiers tonight at 10:00 on National Georgraphic Channel.
Research involves the snakes facial pits being use to regulate body temperature. Pits were once thought to only be used to detect predators and prey.
Television crews shot at ISU last fall, the program will first air on the National Geographic Channel Friday night at 10. Rebroadcasts are scheduled for 1:00 am and Noon on Saturday March 3.
Set your Recorder on Stun(ning)!
Best Regards JohnZ

I watched the Rattler Show last night.
They did a good job with it.
Nice blend covering bites with Dr. Bush,
then Field Study on Rattlesnakes,
and Lab Study on Rattlesnakes.
Well worth trying to see if you get the chance.
Best Regards JohnZ

I disagree. The show should have been called, "A few facts concerning the Western Diamondback".

Dan, I am surprised that you did not care for the show. Compared to many of the "reptile hype" shows they do, I found this show refreshing in that it actually offered some info on current research and scientific studies that are being conducted.
Best Regards JohnZ

JohnZ: I just went back and re-watched the program...this time without the constant interruption of screaming children trying to avoid their bathtime! My earlier review of this program was WAY off. This show did indeed have many scientific facts concerning rattlers that I haven't seen on TV before. Very refreshing to watch a show on NAt GEo or APL that actually discusses a species besides boas or pythons and jeff corwin. :) Rattler: Behind the Fangs should be shown in every school to educate our children about rattlers. Being somebody that has handled/housed rattlers(chiefly Crotalus viridis) for several years, I did indeed appreciate the show. Very well done. Thanks for giving me the desire to re-watch the program, JohnZ! Peace. Dan.
