It has been my experience that the wildlife law enforcement officers in National Wildlife Refuges are very serious about not having hooks/tongs/containers in your possession within the boundaries of the refuge.
Cameras are okay as long as you don't "detain, harrass, catch, take, move, relocate, touch or hinder in any way" any wildlife that you find.
Good luck
Karl

You are so very correct. You don't want to have any "reptile related equipment" in your possession there. Like he mentioned, you don't want to as much as reroute a snake there. It may not be that bad, but don't get caught with the equipment.

Hi Dustin,Are you talking about the Great Pee Dee NWR in Darlington S.C.?If so that place is loaded with cottonmouths, copperheads and canebrakes.I have never found a pigmy there and I have herped that place for over 25 years. The Game Wardens in that area are very strict but as long as you only take photos you will not have any problems. Also make sure you sign in and out when visiting.Hope this helps,Trey
