Shawn,
It is very difficult to show inflection in online conversations and I feel as though you may have taken some things I typed as negative.
Please bear with me:
You said -
"I called the big wig of the states DNR and he said absolutely no Venomous is allowed to be kept in the state and there is no permits you can get to over rule this and there is no permits that you can get to allow you to go out and catch in the state (he said that there is no hunting season open to allow a person to go out and collect, and since there is no season then that means the season is closed for 24/7/365 meaning it is illegal to catch), but my local DNR officer does not care and has watched me go on collecting sprees, but he can not show me in writing what his superior has told me, and the way I see it if they can not prove or show it in writing then it is not true and they are just trying to throw their athority around by thinking if we called then we have no clue how the laws work...???"
If you take out all the extra wording, it reads like this:
"I called the big wig of the states DNR and he said ... it is illegal to catch ... but my local DNR officer does not care and has watched me go on collecting sprees ..."
Now if the bigwig is right and is the one who peruses our website, you just admitted that you break the law and your local DNR agent is complicit in your actions.
It is often difficult to get to the bottom of the correct version of reptile laws and I have no real personal stake in the laws of WV. I just don't want anyone getting into any trouble for something they posted in good faith on this website.
I agree with you that anything you post (including a list of what you keep) can come back and be used against you. I have, in fact seen that happen here. However, I still stand behind the need to fill out our general profile information. I will not deal with anyone who refuses to let me know who they are. Understand, please, that this is not directed at you, it is merely an explanation of the apparent discrepancy between the need to fill out a profile and the need to maintain personal privacy.
Thank you for your insights into the problems of getting correct information from various wildlife officers and state officials. It is a problem that comes up frequently and as you have said, no one source can be completely trusted to give 100% correct information.
Karl

geesh Karl, I just read over all the post on this thread, and you're right it did in fact sound/read like I admitted to doing things illegally..This was not my intent or what I was getting at.. By no means was I telling anyone I do things wrongly or that they should.. My local DNR officer Hates snakes, he told me the more I catch the less he will see while he is out.. But he has also told me what the Bigwig said and told me that we would have to go with his word and not our own.. No I was not trying to say my local DNR officer tells me to go out and do wrong...For he is very strick in his inforcing the law.. I was just saying that one should not have to brag/tell another what he has in his collection..cause that is when he/or her gets in trouble by putting to much trust in someone that they only know over the internet.. No I did not take what any of you were saying as offensive, and understand what everybody has said... But listen to me when I say, by no means should anyone go out and do anything illegally to obtain any reptiles, cause when they do and get caught (and you will get caught) then these people are the ones who bring forth new laws banning us from keeping reptiles... So be careful and honest and compleatly legal in all you do... And my profile says who I am....Right? Shawn

1 Puffadder $90.00
1 WA Gaboon Viper $150.00

I have no money, and really don't have the set up or timefor any of these... Neal says he is getting rid of them to try and raise some money for some bills, and he was recently in a car wreck... Let me know what you all think, he lives about 1 1/2 hours away from me... Shawn

Shawn, I think you answered your own question when you stated "I have no money, and really don't have the set up or time for any of these."
