You have to remember that at shows there are alot of impulse buyers that will buy something when it's that cheap, and alot of vendors that have a large headcount that won't lose any money if they sell. When a vendor goes to a show, they plan on going back with as little as possible, even if it means selling snakes at a lower price. You're not likely to make much, if any money by picking up snakes (that may or may not be feeding, CB animals)at a show and re-selling them. You're not the first with that idea, I'm sure.
Once you begin the venture, you'll see it isn't as easy as it sounds. Good luck if you do decide to take the step, at least you'll have the animals to enjoy in the mean time. And that's what it's all about.

Thanks for the imput tj. You are very right in saying that even if I don't turn a profit, I will still have the experience of working with the animals and that is what matters. I guess I'll go ahead and give it a try when I get some more cage space and see what happens.

I don't know if this has already been said, but you have to consider some of those species of snakes not to be sold. So, only buy a little a first, like 1 or 2 of each. Then, if you get them selling, get some more.
Never buy too many, because from what you've said, your parents wouldn't be too happy if they didn't cell. And i don't think Pittsburgh is a great place to let a snake go...lol.
P.S. I don't live to far from pitt.

Nate, you make some good points. I tried vending for the first time at the Spartenburg Show a couple of months ago. I was not selling reptiles, but instead was selling reptile books, reptile hooks, cork bark hides, delli cupps, snake bags, etc.
I found out that the stuff I thought would sell, often did not sell well at all, and the stuff I thought would never sell, was popular, LOL !
Guess I will try again and see what happens next month at the Columbia Show.
Best Regards JohnZ

lol, i just noticed i spelled "sell" cell in my last post. I need to go back to first grade.
Anyway, That always seems to happen. (The following doesn't have anything to do with reptiles) Once at my opening day carnival for baseball, each team had to set up their own booth. Well ours was a ticket drawing. If your number matched the one on the board, you would win that prize. We had baseballs, a baseball bat, mits, rubber baseballs, toys, ect. Then we had one pack of stupid yugio (if thats even how you spell it) cards, and everyone was trying to get those. None of us thought we would make so much on someone trying to get stupid trading cards. Our team ended up making the most money... LOL
can't wait until i get out of school for the summer.
