Hi ...
I've seen at least 3 different photos of Copperheads, and they all had 2 dots on the tops of their heads. Is this normal ? Do they all have these 2 dots ?
Thanks in Advance for your help.

certainly not all, but common. i've had only 3 broadbands but none of the 3 had the dots, while all my southerns and northerns have. not sure about the trans-pecos and osage.
i have a female cottonmouth that has 2 tiny dots on every scale near its tip. really odd, but similar to freckles i suppose

Hi...
If you go to the website "texas-venomous.com", you'll see that the Copperhead used as their masthead, and the pic of their Trans-Pecos both have clear shots of those dots while their Broadband doesn't.
Thanks for your interest; and don't get bit.

99.99% of all A.c.contortrix (Southern Copperhead) and integrades (S x N) that I have caught/seen all have those two dots. They are so common that they are included in Gloyd and Conant's physical descriptions.

Well I don't pay much attention, but today a guy called the zoo about having caught some copperheads and they sent me out to get them. Usually people end up have emeryis or prairie kings but these turned out to be copperheads. They are broadbands and both have the perfect dots on the head, so just my input.

Canebrakes and Cottons also have them, they are hard to see on cottons though.
