As strange and disturbing as the video of the cobra striking at the baby, and being handled by the young kids seems to be, we have to remember that this is part of that culture of Indian Snake Charmers.
It has been going on for many generations of "Snake Charmers" in India, and is a way of introducing the future generations to being comfortable around snakes.
I almost have to wonder if we did the same thing here in this country, if we would not have the sometimes phobic fear of snakes that we see in many people ?
In this country, we are often too quick to judge other cultures, and to rush in with our missionarys to help them replace their heathen ways of worshiping fig trees with our own concepts of religion.
Look at how much that helped the Native Americans ? !
Also, do you think there would be internet scammers on this site if we had not shipped missionarys to Camaroon with clothing, computers, education, and internet connections ? Probably not.
And what about our interference in the Arabic world. Would they have been so pissed off if we had left them to ride their camels and drown in their own oil ?
Just some random, irreverent thoughts on the subject, LOL !
