Any ideas on how to do this? I have a beautiful canebrake that dropped 11 buttons last night. She is supposed to do a photo shoot next week. I am thinking to tube her and glue the rattle back on, but the question is what type of glue would work best, quickest and be safest for the animal. If anyone has done this before or has any good ideas I would greatly appreciate it!

Andrew, I would use a quick drying glue like "super glue." It is quite strong and dries in a few minutes.
It should not hurt the snake at all.
Good luck on the photo shoot !

I would just keep it and when she drops the next group snap the two lost ones together. eventually you'll end up with a killer string to frame though it won't be attached to the snake.
I've seen a 20 or so segment rattle a guy did that way. It takes a few years but you end up with an awesome framed rattle string.

I agree with John. Super glue is a safe sterile glue that has medical applications and was originally designed for medicine.

That's seriously inconvient. I'm sorry but I had to laugh when I read your situation. What are the odds of that happening right before a photo shoot.
I agree super glue would be the best I wouldn't use the gel though. I use SG in reef tanks quite often and it works well without hurting the fish or the corals I'm attaching. The gel doesn't work near as well. I know different situations hope this helps a little.

Thanks for the advice y'all! i got one of the specialty versions of superglue that fills crack and works on porous surfaces. it worked like a charm... i figured it would work but i worried about how the rattle would operate. you would never know anything happened. it is repaired and invisible. YeeHaw!!

Here's what's weird. I have done the exact same thing, and I glued the rattles back on with Crazy Glue while the snake was tubed.
