Well i'v been considering getting an asian vine snake. I'v owned 4 snakes before Milk snake, Ball python, Suriname/Hogg, and a Colombian. I have alot of Copperheads around my house so I have some experience with venomous snakes I relocate the copperheads so they're not killed. So do you guys think im ready for a hot. I found some Asian Vines from Off the Ark for 40 dollars good price? I'v done a little research on Vine snakes but if I decide to get one i will do alot more. If an Asian Vine isnt a good choice what is i'd like to try a hot. But I dont want anything that can be lethal.
Thanks,

they're not lethal and in a lot of places aren't considered venomous, although i was going to buy a pair i've decided not to since the laws here are not defined, they refuse to define them and only aggravate you after they've acted indifferent to it all. so i'd check the laws (trust me :) ) and as far as the reality of it all, asian vines are nothing to worry about but there is certainly nothing wrong with treating them as dangerous. $40 is a good price if they're healthy

They would probably be fine if you have a constant source for feeder lizards. Vine snakes, especially the Asians (Ahaetulla ssp.) are notorious for being lizard-only feeders. I've seen very few that had been successfully switched to rodents, and I've not read or seen any accounts of those that had been switched living a healthy life with that sort of unnatural diet.
My personal opinion would be, if you wanted to get started keeping venomous by starting with rear-fangs, to get a juvenile false water cobra to raise. They're known for quite a...healthy appetite, and they're also not likely to do any major damage if you mess up. The feeding response will certainly keep you on your toes.
I know they're basically a total 180 from a vine snake, but they will be a lot easier to care for. Good luck with whatever you choose.
