I was able to stand in a fellows herp room while he tended his Cobra. I was amazed at how attentive his snake was. It hooded up And was looking around, I swear it knew I was a new addition to the room. This was a large snake . It raised up when it hooded and I would say it was about waist high. I was only allowed to watch. Next I was allowed to feed a EDB. I was shocked ht how fast it snatched the rat from the foreceps. Then it was time for a hooking lesson. I was given a test rum on a ball python who was a great sport in showing me how its done. Then it was tine for a smaller EDB. This did not go well as thei snake was not into it. I tried to scoop him up and when I would try to move it it would just slide off. I was nervous as well so the fellow who was giving the pointers had me stop and just showed me how it was done. I did well I was told. From this I learnd that I will NOT keep Cobra's as they give me the willi's and that I still have some lerning to do. I was told that I can come over on Sunday's after Church. I will try and get photo's so I can show a newbi getting started.

Eugene, you are doing the right thing in working with a Mentor.
Never be in a hurry to start keeping venomous snakes.
Take your time.
Best Regards JohnZ

Sounds like you are going about this exactly the right way. The few times I have been around Cobras they have given me the exact same feeling and impression. Take your time and take good "notes". I spent many years with the more aggressive non-venomous before I ever attempted to work with my first venomous. Good luck and take care.

It was what was going on behind it's eye's that got me. The animal reminded me of the Veloca raptor's in jurassic park. It was amazing and I am lucky to have the oppertunity to see them up close.
