Hey Elijah, if you type "mites" into the search engine on the right side of this website you'll find tons of info from previous discussions about this.Recently I took in a big burmese python for a friend who was moving and needed a place to keep it for awhile. It was covered with mites
at the time, and I was afraid it would infest the rest of my collection. He suggested soaking it over night in room temp water with some dishsoap in it. I had never tried that before but it sounded easy enough and inexpensive,and it was his snake, so when I got her home, she went straight into a 55 gal trash can with room temp water mixed with dishsoap.( make sure you use soap thats NOT anti-bactierial)She soaked all night and all the next morning. In the afternoon (after about 18 hrs) I took her out and rinsed her with fresh water. Never saw another mite in the 2 months I had her.I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't tried it,but it was the easiest and most inexpensive method I've ever tried.I'd like to hear from others if they've tried this method, or if they know of any negatives on it. Soaking has only limited affect on eradicating mites. The problem with soaking is that you only kill the mites on the body. Mites leave their host to lay their eggs so re-infestations usually occur within a few months. I would recommend getting a can or two of Pro Product's Provent-A-Mite Spray. The stuff is absolutely amazing and works with 100% effectiveness. It makes getting rid of mites a snap. If you follow the manufacturer directions, you will not see any more mites.
