I continue to write my state politicians to remove all reptiles from from any proposed ban/legilation. I just hope my fellow NC herpers have been doing the same.

Good Job August!! Thanks to your efforts and many like you ALL Reptiles have been removed from the proposed legislation in NC.
it is now all lions, tigers, bears and hyenas... with a USDA exemption... and it still has a long way to go with no real support. it actually passes the buck of responsibility to the counties to either ban or regulate.

I hope reptile people will still fight and help the mammal folks, because if mammals are banned, the ‘rabid’ mammal folks will not help you next year when AR will be back.
Anyway, few weeks ago I attended AKC legislative seminar run by AKC attorney and dog breeder himself.
He was one of few lawyers I liked, he said what I have been saying for ages, so it was nice to meet a person I didn’t have to bug about being an activist for change (BIG GRIN), he said that even though animal people really want to talk about breeding/whelping, showing, etc…nowadays, we can not afford this, nowadays, we ALL have to be legislative activists and we all need to be sons of a bitches (his words), we need to be tough.
He is also into Constitution, I was impressed, with all these bans that affect breeders/livelihood (even if licensed people/breeders get exempt, if pet owners are banned, breeders loose their customers aka income).
So if exotic/BSL/Mandatory spay neuter laws are introduced, since animals are property, this legislation is property taking on the part of the government, so you breeders just show up at legislative hearings and demand that government compensates you for thousands in income loss or file a lawsuit, time to be SUPER sons of a bitches.
Same for exhibitors, if live exotic shows are banned, you loose income…
