Is the midwest nylon snake bag a good snake bag? I have used pillow cases and a bag made for the purpose but they were all made out of cotten and I worry that they will rip in the field. what appealed to me about this snake bag is that it is made out of nylon. has anybody had one of these and had problems with it? will it rip when used in the field?

I love them, and they are made of rip-stop nylon. I usually have one in my pack no matter where I am, even on the ambulance.

I don't know about the Midwest bags, but I've been using ripstop nylon bags for 35 years. I still have one of the original batch a girlfriend sewed for me back then. I recently bought 9 sq yds of nylon to make new ones with. Twenty bucks worth of fabric will make a lot of bags.
Only one downside I recall is a friend snagged one on a barbed wire fence and it tore quite readily.
If you're going to sew your own, use polyester thread.

Some of the most awfull snake bags I ever saw were made out of a stretchy, soft, sweat-shirt? material.
Some kind of poly acrylic fabric with a loose weave from old shirts that probably had come from goodwill.
Defenatly dangerous home made snake bags.
Get real snake bags.
Best Regards JohnZ
