Hey guys. I'm curious. How many of you have shipped with fedex? I know I have several times with no problems at all. Recently, I sold one of my retics to a gentleman that had a fedex account. We decided to ship it using his account. Now, keep in mind this is his business account to ship snakes. My wife drops the package off at the local fedex in Charlotte. Later on, I get a phone call saying that they felt the package was "suspicious" so they opened it. They then told me that they will not ship a reptile. And that they dont ship animals at all. The gentleman that I was sending this to called fedex to ask what was going on. They told him that they do ship animals. Well, to make a long story short,.......they ended up refusing to ship it. We both feel as if it's a case of a few people that dont like snakes wanting to be jerks. Do you guys have any info that can help?

Tell the local yokals to call the main FedEx people and they will inform them that on a restricted basis, FedEx customers can be approved to ship nonvenomous snakes and other harmless reptiles. If the person's account was approved for such, the local people have nothing to stand on. If they continue to refuse, you can call FedEx yourself and have a higher up give them a call.

When you dropped off the snake at the "local Fed X," was that an acutal Fed X place, or something like a Kinkos or UPS Store, that is privatly owned, that acts as a go between for those outfits?
It can make a huge difference.

it was a fedex/kinkos. I guess maybe that was the problem. It really made me mad. They treated us like freakin' criminals.

Drive to one of the actual Fed X places, which are often few and far between.
That way you can always ask for a supervisor if you run into a nitwhit at the desk.
I have to drive 35 miles here to get to the actual UPS or Fed X places to ship things, which can be a real pain, but is sometimes worth the effort.
