Hello, everyone. Hope there's someone out there who could help me of refer me to someone else with experience in minor surgery on venomous.
See, I have a specific doubt on anesthetic drugs. I have read and seen every chapter and detail about this matter on Dr. Mader's book, but still I'd like to narrow the information to the finest detail in order to achieve the desired result from this surgery. Have you ever performed any surgery on the genus Bitis? The thing is we own a Bitis arietans and we have to perform minor surgery on her upper lip. She has an abcess and we will most probably use a local anesthetic. My concern is the farmacokinetics and side effects of the anesthetic drug on her. Any advice on this?
Follow-up treatment will consist of cleansing and topical medication with cloramphenicol and silver sulfadiazine to help the recovery of the skin. Anything else I should note?
Just for the record. There are none or in fact very few herp vets in my country, and much the less people who work with venomous. We have our own private clinical facility and have been studying herp medicine for a while as well as performed minor surgeries, but never on this species. Are there any further considerations I should take into account?
Thanks for your help!!

If you can box her up, just gas her down with isoflourane. Once she's comfortably down, tube her through the glottis. Monitor the heart and breathing close.
