First of all, DO NOT buy a wild-caught or "farmed"(meaning hatched in Africa from wild-caught, gravid females, usually)import. If the dealer cannot provide you with a record of the snake's hatching date, feedings and sheddings, don't buy it. There will be plenty of people selling captive-bred Ball Pythons that they will stand behind, with regard to health and feeding. I know that Joe Lesch of SerpenXotics will be there, with some Ball Pythons that were hatched right here in SC(see his list under Classifieds). You'll pay a bit more for captive-bred, as opposed to imports, but you will wind up making a much better investment. As for color/pattern/morph, that's up to your personal preferences. The more unusual the morph, the more expensive it will be, but you can often find nice-looking normal Ball Pythons that hatched out in clutches of morphs for much cheaper.

I can vouch for Joe Lesch. I purchased 3 hots from him earlier this year and they were in top health and looks. A great guy to do business with.
