Z, I liked the new vidio. But, I'd like to suggest getting a large plastic trash can. To avoid injury to the animal, I would use the tongs just long enough to put the snake into the trash can. Tongs are great for controling the snake but can easily cause harm if used to carry it too much. When walking it can be difficult to control the grip. I prefer large cans with lids that will snap on securely. It will also make it much easier to relocate the animal further distances to avoid its' return onto the property..Other than that I'll keep my eyes out for a snake handler that looks that good in a bikini out here in Az. Glad u liked it since it was really you Terry who gave me this bikini idea.;-)
Soberwolf, YES, buying better/gentler tongs is on my urgent LONG to do list.
The ones I have came from the company where I bought my animal control nets, poles and tranqulizer rifle, they are not specializing in snakes, it was just easy to make one big order at the time...
Is there any good text or video how to use hooks with snakes and what is the best hook?
I don’t think I will use it with local wild snakes, but who knows with me...I don’t think I want to hook Mohave, I am not suicidal, but when it comes to protecting my animals, i am ready...and Panamints seem to be too quick to assume defensive posture when s/he thinks it is being cornered...and hate every inch of me, but I like to learn

PS: Soberwolf, I agree, it is not good to carry the snake for too long in tongs.
This happened quickly, we didn’t have a 'date' with rattler, hehe, it was 7 PM, slowly getting dark, snake appeared, we took it outside of perimeter fence and then spontaneously decided to move it farther before sunset.
There was no script; we just went with the flow to save the snake as well as our pets. And as I answered many private emails, I wear bikinis all the time, it is hot here and I get tan while I work around animals, I have no time/patience to suntan on beach furniture and do nothing. I had no time to get dressed to apply make up, what you see is my real NV life.

Gee, when I put a video of me removing cottonmouths in a bikini, it got flagged as inappropriate. I guess people don't like cottonmouths ;).
That'll get some attention, Z!

Josh, you should have worn that bikini to this reptile show this weekend, LOL !
The way some folks dress at those shows these days, I bet you would not have gotten a second glance !
It is always amazing to me when I see all the folks attending with blue hair, purple hair, orange hair, mowhawks, strange attachments piercing parts of their bodies, leather contraptions, etc........... Guess you can tell I don't get out in public much, LOL
The interesting thing is that the dress / decorations morph some between each show.
Won't be lont until we see reverse-evolution in peoples decorations with folks wearing those neck rings, and big wooden lip disks that the National Geographic folks showed the Zulu using back in the 50's and 60's !
Oh, and Z, sorry to distract the thread. The Suntan, Cowboy Boots, and Bikini work quite nicely !
Also, as far as what brand snake hook to use, well, it needs to be strong enough to not bend or break, long enough to keep you at a safe distance from the snake, "U" or "V" shaped, so that the snake will not slide down the hook on top of your hands if it is elevated above your position. Good hooks are made by several outfits, including Midwest, Furmont, Cheap Snakehooks, and by me.
Best Regards John Z

What are the differences/reasons for using V or U shaped hook?
Which is the correct way to handle/use them? I am sure there are some bad and good websites on this and I want to use/read the good way to use them.
I have no plans to deal with exotic snakes unless somebody dumps them NC Cobras here, all I care about is to remove local venomous native to Mohave from my property.

Z just stick with the tongs and a trash can. Just try not to squeeze too hard with the tongs.. Shelby
