I'm not sure how unusual this is but I just caught a small copperhead in my front yard. It's only about 12" long but from my experience it should be much larger this time of year. Normally they give birth in the Fall so I'm wondering if he was born early or just hasn't grown much for some reason. He looks like he just ate and appears healthy. I caught him since I'm in a fairly populated area with kids. Not sure if I want to keep him since I already have one.

If that snake is 12", I would say it's last years baby. That would be about the normal size for a yearling.
