Does any one in the private sector own these awsome animals.I know sanantonio zoo and abilene zoo does .

That would be Ophryacus melanurus, the Mexican Black-tailed Horned Pit Viper? They are beautiful, but obscure snakes, and I don't know of any in private hands. You might inquire w/ the Cape Fear Serpentarium. There's also Ophryacus undulatus, the Mexican Horned Pit Viper.

Of course, Mexico is extremely protective of its flora and fauna, especially herps, and for good reason. It's too bad that no one seems to be breeding these snakes here, though.
