I have always respected timbers and canebrakes even though I haven't really admired them. Now that I've looked at your pictures of the blacks, golds, and these I can see the error of my ways. They are great looking snakes!
Thanks,
Andy

do you know of anyone that is breeding an original TX lineage canes? i would love to have a pair. i know there had to be someone that exported some of those before it was made illegal. i have talked to TX DNR and they are willing to allow me to collect 2 with a permit from the University that i work with, but i have no idea when i can get time to go to TX. they may be extinct before i can get there. =)

well now, i am not sure on that, my knee-jerk reaction would be no. but i will check. if i am going using collected snakes, i would want to collect them myself. I have all the paperwork, but i have not submitted it yet. pointless to do so and then take 3 years to get there. TX DNR were pretty easy to deal with. i was checking with them and WI at the same time. WI would not allow me to collect, but did offer to give me some impounded snakes they had....but there was no lineage on them, so could have have came from anywhere and therefor, were not useful to me at all. i have made a connection in TX. guy has a farm and finds canes there regularly. he has sent me several pics of them and they are exactly what i want, but time is my problem. i would love to find someone that has a creditable lineage of TX canes and just get couple from them, but no such luck yet.
