I know the only native hots you can own in NC are copperhead and cottonmouth, but what if you buy captive bred and get documentation to prove it? Also, are you allowed to catch copperheads or do they have to be cb?

Please fill out your profile if you want a response to your questions. Nothing personal, we just like to know who we are dealing with and how much experience you have.

The laws prohibiting any snakes in just about any state do not differentiate between wild caught or captive bred.
For example, it is unlawful to keep Corn Snakes in Georgia. It does not matter if it is a triple het for bananacreampie blue-eyed albino that was captive produced after 73 generations of intensive inbreeding or if it was caught in your backyard.
Also, if the law was that you could only own captive bred Copperheads - that would be very prominent in the verbage of the law.
Your non-filled-out profile makes this seem to be an attempt to circumvent your state laws and get someone on here to say it would be alright.
I would recommend contacting your F&G or DNR or whatever your wildlife agency is called in North Carolina and ask them specifically the questions you are asking here.
That is about the best I can come up with for a question with no real person behind it.

Please complete your profile and I may be able to help with your questions. I have lived here my entire life. The N.C. Wildlife Commission Resource is a good place to start.
