April 2009
Dear Congressman.
As a voting, US Constitution respecting, American citizen, I urge you to OPPOSE the Non-native Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act (H.R. 669).
Domestic and exotic animals have been part of our everyday life for many years without any major effect on the human health or environment (maybe with the exception of the uncontrolled population of the feral cats, who are exempt from this bill).
The major threat to our environment is the human population explosion and over development. The major threat to human health is the fellow humans, aka murders and attempted murders, and human to human transmission of the diseases.
Furthermore, in today’s harsh economic climate, this bill would decimate many honest animal related businesses, and kill the livelihood of millions of hard working American taxpayers. Under our legal system animals are considered property, and therefore protected by US Constitution.
You can help our economy by opposing HR669 and all extreme animal rights bills whose final agenda is to remove all animals form human contact, for food and pets.
Sincerely
Zuzana Kukol, President
Responsible Exotic Animal Ownership

Love it. I've already sent one to BOTH my senators and my representative in Florida. However, the one thing I would change in the letter is not to urge them to oppose it; TELL them to oppose it. They are YOUR voice at the national level and therefore, should listen to you. You can check their voting record on Congress.org to see whether they listened to you or not. If they didn't, keep emailing them and eventually they will give up trying to contact you. When they do, you have something to fight against them during the next re-election cycle.
Keep up the good work
Mike

Zuzana's letter is excellent, as is Andrew Wyatt's that Im sure the vast majority of you have received. Remember, folks, this a FEDERAL bill, okay? If you sit back and do nothing, and HR669 passes,
don't post here freaking out about how you got home from work to find your local animal control hauling away any exotics you may have. And contact ALL congressmen/women involved with the bill, not just the ones in your state.

Thanks, just back home from sending the letters snail mail, as the emails or type in form don't work for all of them, meaning only work for the people from their own state.

One thing that folks should remember, is that snail mail to your Congressman will be slow to get there.
It has to first make it through a decontamination center. This could keep it from ever getting there, or, it could get there after it is too late for public comment on the bill.
I have been told that it is far better to FAX your letter you your representatives, as that spits out a piece of paper right in his office. Supposedly, it is much more likely to get read that way, than a Snail Mail or EMail.
You should be able to find his FAX number on the USGovernment.gov site, if you search for the representatives from your State.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards
