I'm seriously planning on moving west. As a Kid I grew up in San Diego county and this past month the family and I took a 3 week trip by car (From Florida) out to my old stomping ground. That trip opened up my eyes. Many people become prisoners of the cities they live in be it our jobs, family or whatever that keeps us there. That's where I have been for years, a prisoner of my city and I refuse to stay miserable here. (Fortunately the family agrees with me to move) I probably will not end up in San Diego but some where in Arizona or New Mexico. I have a lot of research and work ahead of me befor our June 2010 move.
I know sometimes forums can be hit or miss with people telling you to research it but on that point that is why I am on, "Ask the experts".
I have an OLD,"A Field Guide to Reptiles and the Law" book by John Level but to be honest I have had that for about 13 years. I'm curious what the laws are in Arizona, New Mexico and even California these days. Some of you know I own HOT's but really don't want to end up in a state where I must ditch my collection or have some F.Up laws. I guess in short, what should I know about keeping snakes in these snakes.
Thanks in advance

Scott,
All three of those states have some pretty strict reptile laws these days. But, I think all three also allow some keeping of native venomous snakes.
Hopefully, some of the folks who live there will chime in with the latest regulations. Trying to figure them out yourself from game and fish websites can be a real challenge. Also, search back in the Experts forum here. I think both of those state's reptile laws have been discussed to some extent here during the last 6 months.
Good Luck on the move.
Best Regards
John Z

You might try this site. Don't take it as written in stone, but the contact info should be good.

Forget Arizona Scott. I lived there and they would not issue ME one, even with the references I presented.
NM is getting very picky on exotics. I know several people that recently unloaded their exotics because of pending law changes.
