this is the title - or something close to it - of a paper i'd read years ago. i skimmed it at the time and can't seem to find it on bibliophile herp search now that i really need it.
it was a study - conducted in the early 80s - of various species' brain structures and the effect of vertiginous movement. it purported to explain how some religious snake handlers, by lifting snakes midway down/keeping their heads low and bodies slowly spinning, might be using blood flow and motion to induce a semi-sleep state.
anyone read this article (or something similar to it)? it may've been debunked by now (or not?) but i'd still like to see it again...thanks!
