Hey guys.. I've got a burmese python I've had for almost two years. He is about two years old now. (He is on the left in my profile picture).
I finally got a female for him. I brought them out to sun bathe a little, and this was the first time I've seen him compared to a normal burm.
I bought him from House of Scales, who's owner bred the first caramel albino burms. I actually bought the snake as a poss. het. for caramel albino.
What do you guys think of him?
Thanks,
Jon Short

i have seen a few light colored burms like that, not sure if it has anything to do with a morph. i figured it was kinda like the ball pythons where you see a few light colored normals now and then. either way they both look great

I agree. If the gene is heterozygus, then the dominanat gene will be that of normal colouration. You wouldn't be able to notice just from the shade of its skin if it was het or not.
It does just look like a ligher coloured burm to me.

in monocled cobras there seems to be a het marker for caramel albinos, this may also be true with cottonmouths... tho i have seen normal looking het cottons and in the monocleds it's kinda early to tell...i have also seen hypo looking het T- albino EDBs, but they are not the norm...only breeding will tell...it may also be a pastel type gene, i'm not a burm breeder...contact your breeder and see if it came from a lighter than normal parent....

Thanks for the replies! I don't really care what he is. He is the best snake I've ever owned.
And as far as I know the guy sold all the litter mates.

First off, the snake in question is on the LEFT in your profile picture, correct..?
It is the DARKER on the two, and I doubt that the specimen is the result of a "morph", or a highly genetically-altered animal.
Looks like a normal burm to me..
Like all pythons, they can be a bit variable.
He his a darker (the one on the left), but nothing about his pattern seems unusual, to me. Looks to be typical burm markings.
I myself am not a burm breeder, but have seen quite a few of them. (thousands, for sure)
He may posses some of the caramel genes, but he looks like a typical burm to me.
Take Care,
-J. Mendrola
