My girlfriend just got last minute tix to NIcaragua for tomorrow. This isn't a herping trip per se - more a case of finding incredibly cheap plane tix and having time off - but I'd love to see an eyelash in the wild.
I'm a Bitis guy so I'm ignorant here. That said...
I know to stay near water, to look at night and look (relatively) low in the foliage. But I don't know my color phases. Anybody know what color phase might prevail in west Nicaragua?
Also, I gather low elevations are good, but anyone know what exactly 'low' means? (I assume any cloud forests are too high up?)
Last thing: anyone know if hour or so post-dusk is best or just before dawn?
Thanks for your help!

Hi Asud, I have seen a few in the wild in Costa Rica. I think the animals are setting in the same place both night and day, sometimes they are just easier to pick out with flashlight. I would guess both green and yellow phases would be present but not sure! Good luck on your trip.
