Who are you?
This has been discussed at length here.
The latest published documentation seems to hold that there really isn't any difference between "canebrakes" and "timbers".
However, a south Georgia "canebrake" is significantly different than a northwestern Virginia "timber".
I pick those two localities because I have personally caught snakes in both of them. The "canebrake" has a significantly heftier body, does not den up like "timbers", and grows to a noticeably longer adult size.
Just based on personal observation and NOT founded on mtDNA research.
